Rules
Playing the game for a couple of weeks now it has come to my attention that I have been breaking the rules. Unfortunately I just dived right in and played away. I can only claim ignorance, and you know, if ignorance is bliss I'm party'n down! Therefore I am vacating all victories I have claimed. Please adjust your records.
In future I will endeavor to follow all applicable rules. Whew! It feels good to get that off my chest.
On a brighter note, Ivy and I rallied for 57 shots,a combined personal best...high fives all around!

To all concerned, The old camparoo could be in trouble. With lake levels still high, many area campgrounds are closed, including Spencer Creek. Oologah lake is falling about a foot a day at this point so maybe it will all work out. I'll keep you posted.

Beat the Heat
We've managed to go two days without rain so maybe the monsoon is over. Temps have finally gotten into the mid 90's with humidity to match. The twins have a sure way to keep their cool...jump in or if need be...walk on water!

Greetings from California!
Hi Bloggers,
Thanks for the invite! David & Jetta are happy to join your blog. It is a great way to stay in touch and share experiences.
We are living in Fremont, California. We get a little coastal fog, so the temps are very mild. The fog usually burns off by noon and we get sunny afternoons and beautiful sunsets, until the fog creeps back over the coastal mountains and covers us over again. The flowers are beautiful and the fruit trees are dripping with plums & citrus. The negatives are that there are so many people here, so many cars and traffic jams, and everything is expensive. But we will be here for just a year, so plan on enjoying CA as much as possible. If any of our fellow bloggers come to visit the San Francisco Bay area we will be happy to provide accommodations!
Love,
D & J
PS:
Can it be true about OU forfeiting last season? What is up?

Late luck
Well, looks like our bad luck took a vacation for a day. All I'll say is don't put gas in a diesel engine!

LUCK?
Well we managed to get through the luckiest day of the millennium and a good old unlucky friday the 13th all in a week's time no better or worse off. My bit of good luck is getting this blog going and having willing contributors, while any bad luck I may have encountered could be chalked up to bad timing...all the red lights, turtle-slow drivers when "I" am in a hurry, people in wallyworld perusing the shelves of canned goods like fine art etc... but who knows the outcome had I hit the greens, been in front of the turtles and been alone in walmart. Peace, love and luck to all!
Hey Steve, since the girls are taking "grossology" they might appreciate this. It's a (perhaps thankfully) blurry photo of a couple of dung beetles rolling a marble-sized piece of their namesake across the prairie to do ... whatever it is they do with it. One appeared to be doing all the work, though, while the other one was along for the ride. Aren't we lucky to have won the cosmic lottery and be born humans! (Though, sometimes I do wonder...)

Furry Surprise
While searching the bowels of my former darkroom for certain photo related articles I was quite surprised to find this furry little critter residing in a metal box. He's the 5th one this summer, though the others have been in the barn. We'll eat well this week!
Actually they've all been relocated to various outlying areas where they'll probably become someone else's problem. Ah, life on the farm.

Oiling the Tin
Wow great pics and posts, look forward to reading and contributing. Hope everyone has a great summer weekend. A little whooping it up for ya...

Bug Hunt
Miracle of the natural world...Live underground anywhere from 3 to 17 years, crawl out of your hole in the ground, climb a tree or whatever other vertical object happens to be in the way, crack out of your protective armor, dry your wings and fly away; then for two weeks (if something doesn't eat you) look for a mate, procreate and die! Isn't LIFE grand!?
We enjoy searching for the bugs just after dark and watching their progress as they become flyers even though we have to deal with the occasional spider web. The twins are taking a 'grossology' class at the zoo this week so this kinda fits in. Sweet Dreams!

Hooray for blogs that require absolutely no physical exertion whatsoever! And so appropriate, as I've been sitting on my, ah, laurels all day long here at the office. A slow day at the office is like a million years unless you have something inspiring or troubling to ponder. I suppose it's fortunate that I have nothing much to fret about. As the Chinese curse went, "may you live in interesting times." Now where'd this darned underline come from? Whatever. I have a sequence of photos from our recent monarch-rearing that I hope to share with you all soon. Maybe we'll get the typing thing down first.
Garden: 6 cukes, 3 tomatoes. First sweet corn last night. Mmmm!
