Thanksgiving Photos

Ah another Thanksgiving meal to remember - how amazing that so many great cooks belong to one family. Amazing and Lucky. The kitchen table couldn't hold all the dishes and deserts were stashed on the back porch. Both turkey and ham, 'taters, stuffing (2 kinds), gravey, green beans, colliflower, curry, cherry chutney, pink fluff, rolls, cranberries (3 kinds), sqash casserole, sweet taters - the list goes on. Pies - pumpkin, cherry, pecan, apple - peanutbutter/chocolate bars, cheese cake, and.... WOW, what a feast.

And beautiful weather so the feasters could spill outdoors for football, swinging, and hanging around and recovery.

Thanks to all.

Turn the Page

Rolling through November without a decent freeze yet recorded. The trees know and so do the birds, fall is here and the cold wind of winter is on it's way. Meanwhile we'll enjoy the 60's & 70's while we can!

Fall Visitor

This morning we saw a pair of pileated woodpeckers (aka "stump-busters") fluttering and picking around the trees between our house and the river. They are big and beautiful, and it was great to see them. They might have been just passing through, as we haven't seen them all year, but we will be watching in case they decide to stay for awhile. Do you ever see these birds in Oklahoma?

Fall Fun

We have had to much fun the last couple of weeks. The girls had 4 opportunities to dress up - 2 with the horses. The girls opted to go to a party with some school friends rather than trick or treating.
Alaina was an Arab Sheik on the Arabian steed - she had to use Sunny for the dressage costume class but got to ride Diez at the 4H fun show. That really made her day since Diez has been on injured reserve.

Ivy and Pico were the Elf and her Reindeer (Moose antlers?). At times poor Pico looked embarassed with his get-up although he spooked at the bridle when he first saw it and ran around the yard.

My riding friend Tammy brought her owl to the Halloween bash to add ambiance. Now that the halloween fun is over, the girls are trying to jump the gun and start singing Xmas carols early. NOT allowed!
