Unfortunately that effect is a result of the strobing created by the difference in frames per second of the original film (12-18) and the apparent fps of the electronic video recording device (30). I can adjust a little bit and the video seems pretty smooth but degenerates if I don't constantly adjust projector speed. Anyhow it's still fun to see the old home movies and I think the results should be worth the effort...
it's still a pretty cool visual. last weekend you had mentioned purchasing some equipment online. let me know if i can chip in on that stuff or any future film/video needs.
Sounds like a fun project. Along with creating music, photography is one of my skill deficiencies... but I love images and the various effects people can work into them.

Well,what you're supposed to see is a collage of screenshots from old 8mm film. At this point I'm still testing capturing modes with varied success.

i agree with dgram, i loke the 'feel' of the pics. i can almost see the pics moving :)
