Dirt Bags
While perusing Gardener's Supply Co. catalog I came across an interesting item: Grow Bags. Made of woven polypropylene, they're pretty much a perfect container for tomatoes, peppers etc. Only problem...$15. Got me to thinking about all the empty feed bags we've got piled in the barn; could it work?...hm-m-m-m, could be, we'll see. Combined with some fine dirt that's been residing under a horse manure pile for several years I'll plant my excess tomatoes tomorrow and see what happens.

Cool idea, Steve. Do these bags drain?
I grew some tomatoes in some really cheap versions of these hanging bags and they worked surprisingly well. Great idea!
Hey Pak, I poked a bunch of holes to help with that. I don't think they would drain very well otherwise.
How in the hell are we ever going to get this economy moving again with these Oklahoma dirtbags exercising their creative ingenuity?
Well Sir, with Easter just a few days away, we could implement a nationwide price hike on the seasonal favorite, Peeps.
Peeps are a perennial favorite son, but yes that plan might just work.
From Wiki: "Peeps are sometimes jokingly described as "indestructible". In 1999, scientists at Emory University performed experiments on batches of Peeps to see how easily they could be dissolved, burned or otherwise disintegrated, using such agents as cigarette smoke, boiling water and liquid nitrogen.[12] They claimed that the eyes of the confectionery "wouldn't dissolve in anything".[13] Furthermore, Peeps are insoluble in acetone, water, diluted sulfuric acid, and sodium hydroxide.[14] Concentrated sulfuric acid seems to have effects similar to the expected effects of sulfuric acid on sugar.[15]"
Hey Oakies,Have a great Easter- big love from the Golden State, or as one uncle put it "the land of fruits and nuts." :-)
PS Go A's, Go Giants and when they are playing each other in the battle of the Bay series, Go get me another brewski....
...and if this weekend, you feel a particularly protracted zephyr on your neck or in your ear, chances are its just "Ole Windbag" sounding off!
Yep,lem, we usually roast a few of the little fellers,campfire-style,just to see there faces melt. The sugary coating burns but the innards don't melt anything like a real mallow.
By the way pak, if you want a moveable tomato garden, I've got some to spare.
I'll take whatever you have left! Thanks Steve
