Outside, inside

Outside:: Snow. Snow tamped down and made slick by the weight of sleds. Snow formations like desert sands. Snow mounds atop fence posts like scoops of ice cream. Snow melting into my boots on the porch. Snow, brilliant white, blinding us.

Inside:: Cozy bedtime stories about snow and winter critters. A window seat to gaze at the birds in the snow as we prepare for future snowbound excursions.

You can't beat winter, so you might as well join it... what wintertime rituals are you enjoying right now?

Shoveling snow, carrying buckets of warm water for our spoiled horses, filling bird feeder and taking way too many snow/ice photos...I'll post some later. By the way, the girls love the snow 'cause when they come in they always get a mug of hot Swiss Miss!

Went for a mid-morning neighborhood walk. With the exception of a few driveway shovels at work and a lone snow jogger, it was very tranquil.
I got restless by early afternoon and cleared our drive=way.
After getting done with that I took in some ncaa b-ball along with a nap.
The snow makes for some interesting window gazing. Watching the birds, the dripping icicles and smoke drifting from the neighborhood chimneys.Other than laundrey and flipping through books i've read a dozen times, there's not much more to do to ward off cabin fever.
It won't be long before we're mowing grass and talking about how muggy and uncomfortable it is.
I guess we should enjoy these slow winter days.

Surfing with Keif by Scripps Peir and laughing hysterically as we get pummeled by rogue Pacific energy. Loving the wild reds and oranges in a So Cal winter sunset. Its a hard knock life...

6 inches of snow grinds the wheels of civilization to a halt here. Sledding with the dog, tromping through the woods and seeing how alive it is when the lights go down. By their snow-prints deer, coyote, fox, birds, and bobcat are having some type of lively snow dance under this silvery winter moon.

Taking the kids and their friends sledding. Smiling as Sean takes the babies down the long hill then hauls them back up with the sled. Making "tents" over the floor vents with blankets piling the kids in and getting really warm. Renting dozens of movies.
