It's that time again

Freewheel. This coming weekend i'll be heading out. Melinda graciously volunteered to drive me (after i begged and co hearsed her) to the start in Duncan Oklahoma on Saturday morning bright and early. Try not to visit Melinda for a couple of weeks, because she will probably miss her hair appointment at 2:30.
I'm nervous about the ride. Not exactly like last year being a 'first timer' but similar, because, like last year, i'm not 100% physically prepared. Maybe 50 %. But i feel more prepared, because I do realize the mental struggle to make it. It is hard, but i almost feel like i need it to smack me around and be tough so i'll quit my whining.

I've learned a couple of things that i'll use this year. Here are a few - wear earplugs at night, don't bring so much crap...pack light. Don't bring as many clothes. Stop for longer periods, always eat some free fruit at the designated stops, put extra sunscreen on your thighs, a leg 'farmers tan' is not that bad, people will help you as long as you ASK, i'm more of a loaner than i realized, take more pictures, and last but not least, don't wear underwear under those padded bike shorts (tmi?)
Below is a list of where i'll be during the week. i wont' be doing the day 7 from Alva to Kiowa KS. you can also check out this stuff on www.okfreewheel.com.
This year there'll be no phantom rider showing up(pete) and i'll miss that for sure. Also, the cities are too far out from home, so i'll not see john liz and the boys show up at night like last year. So send some mental 'hello's and positive vibes my way if you can. It'll be cool to see the other side of OK.
love to you,
MO

oh my gosh, how exciting. I attended an info session on freewheel way back in January, but it was not to be for me this year. Western Oklahoma would be pretty and it looks like you'll have splendid weather - hopefully not too hot.

It's so cool that you take the initiative to do this on your own!

I'd still like to take an epic bike ride. It would be fun if we could get some family & friends together for maybe a day trip ride, no?

Hey WOTOR, sounds awesome, again! I'll send good tidings of strength, endurance, and courage on the wind (hopefully at your back). Thanks for keeping your flame lit and burning brightly. Love, Jj
