Monarch Watch

Thanks to PrairyErth we've become monarch tagging enthusiasts. The monarchs have been migrating for several weeks now. I've just started tagging with some success. The butterflies roost in trees overnight and while they are warming themselves, pre-flight in the morning, they are pretty easy to catch.
Clicking the above title should take you to a youtube about the monarchs' migration.

We just tagged 16 this morning and have ordered more tags and another net!

Fun! We saw several out at Oxley Nature Center at Mohawk Park yesterday.. they've largely stayed out of Tulsa, though (and who could blame them).
I was hoping for a tagging event in the Tulsa area, but have not heard of any.

If we get our tags soon enough maybe we'll host our own mini-tagging party!
