Rogers County Fair Fun

The girls and I took three horses to the county fair last weekend.  After weeks of treating Sunny and Pico for some lameness issues, Sunny was sound enough to show but (alas) not so for Pico.  So, we took Sister, Sunny, and Splash.  Ivy showed Sister in Halter and Showmanship and then Splash in Western classes.  Alaina showed Sunny in Halter, Showmanship, English (except Jumping), Western includingTrail and used Sister for Cross Bars.  I showed Splash in Halter, Showmanship, English (except jumping) and Western including Trail.

Sunny and Alaina were pretty good considering Sunny has not been riden since early August - they were Reserve Champion Palomino Halter Geldings/Stallions.  Ivy did very well with Sister and Splash although she didn't make the top 4 placings - so no money.  Splash was pretty good for me after some summer training with Dawn D Performance Horses.  We were Reserve Champion Appaloosa Geldings/Stallions as well as First in Adult Trail.  Very exciting.

The girls also entered bread, wood burning, and (Ivy only) photography in the 4-H division.  They placed in all their classes but no first placings which would have gone on to the Tulsa State Fair.  The county fair had a small carnival this year so the girls learned about carnival economics.  In otherwords, how to buy small toys for lots of money.  I think we need to practice that cover the dot game before we hand over cash again.  Next Saturday we will go compete at the Tulsa State Fair 4-H/FFA horse show now held a week before the midway opens.  Drop by and say hi.
