Exciting News! Auntie Jan agreed to teach the girls some quilting skills and they started today with a classic 9-square. Jan had done the real work of cutting and marking but the girls took to the peicing and spent most of Sunday working on their first project - a pillow! Each pieced 2 9-squares and then they each sewed half of the joining seam. It is ready for fusable interfacing, selection of a back/edge color fabric and finish work (we will need more help from our expert, Jan of course).

What pretty girls they are!
Oh how lucky you are to have Jan and her quilting expertise available! Great looking patchwork and young new quilters :)
You girls have inspired me to lug the sewing machine out of the closet again! I'd love to learn how to sew and quilt. Looks like a beautiful finished product, and fun to make, I'm sure!
very lucky indeed to have Jan close at hand - I am domestically challenged and can't see well enough to thread a needle. The girls would love to see some of your handiwork too. xxxooo c
