They're Back


Monarch butterflies and scissortail flycatchers leave the area in October and return in April. Some pretty ragged looking Monarchs have been drifting through the past few days,riding the gusty south wind. Today a couple of male scissortails arrived and are already battling it out for nesting territory. Looks like spring is really here.

That is a beautiful photo! We don't seem to have scissortails out here, among some other birds. But it's nice to wake up in the wee hours of the morning this time of year and hear them singing outside the open windows.
