Like the Song Says

About once a year or so I feel compelled to upgrade the old PC. This usually entails ripping the guts out and adding more memory, bigger hard drive, maybe a new video card and sometimes a new operating system. Sometimes it's pretty straight-forward and others it's 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Anyhow, that's what I've been up to for the past couple of weeks and I kinda feel like I've been in the engine of an old jalopy and finally got it fired up; not fine tuned yet but ready to hit the road.

My only advice is to back up your backup's. Storage space is relatively cheap and the images you've got saved on disk are often priceless. Good luck, and don't rule out looking at a Mac.

I'm using MS HomeServer, backing up auto every nite with everything mirrored. We have thousands of pix, music and video files that are irreplaceable. I also burn pix to cd or dvd whenever I get a chance.I've probably got too much invested to switch to mac now but who knows?

I'm not familiar with the backup program but if you've been brought back from the dead then it must be solid. I like to make sure that the backup program always has the capability to make a full disc image

With regard to the Mac, I was a PC'r for years, its never too late, especially since the macs now can run both OSX and Windows ;-)
