I remember granny holding her on her shoulder as an infant swaddled in a blanket and delicately, lovingly, kissing the crown of her forehead. The baby smell of her skin and the red wisp of hair. I remember getting to hold this warm infant in my still young arms. Jimbo had to show me how to tip the bottle high so she would not suck air and get gas. you must have told her good stories because she would listen so intently as a young girl-always ready for the joke or the moral. I remember standing in the Gramblin's front yard after David had passed and seeing how deeply young J. was affected as she sat crying into a distant place. I hardly knew her but knew her well enough to miss her today- she will always be a buttercup flower to me

We shared a brief correspondence and I remember telling her "Jaime I remember when you were little you were always smiling and laughing." Her response was both honest and hilarious to me when she said something to the effect of, "really Em?, because my parents told me when I was little I was always crying and crabby." Maybe both are true,-but I definitely remember her smiling and laughing as a baby and as a youth.

Jaime

In French, J'aime = "I love."

I wish I'd told her that and so many other things. But hindsight is alway 20/20, isn't it?

Yes, I remember the little fuzzball Jaime, the sometimes laughing, sometimes crabby, but most always attentive little girl. But when she visits my mind these days - and it happens at odd intervals, if I read or see something she may have enjoyed - I think of her as a young woman who was emotionally and intellectually invested in so many things, so smart and yet so warm and with such positive energy to inspire others. She is still the type of woman who inspires me and who, I'm sure, inspires so many others she knew in her life.
