It's Pick'n Time
Back in the early days of the Wild Orban Ranch we had so many wild blackberries growing on our place I could pick a gallon a day for a week to ten days. We made jam, we froze berries, I even tried making wine...blech! Over the years the berries thinned out to nearly nothing but now have made somewhat of a comeback. Not going to get a gallon a day but enough to have plenty of fresh berries. M-m-m-m!

Oh yeah!
I fondly remember picking blackberries out there - wearing jeans in the heat of summer, but still getting pricked on my arms and fingers. But handfuls of juicy goodness was our reward.
I also remember Jetta making an out-of-this-world blackberry cobbler. Mmmmmm.
We tasted our first blackberries of the season out at Oxley Nature Center in Tulsa this past Friday. It was quite accidental. We were just out for a walk, and noticed the berries lining the path. I picked maybe a pint. Will also picked his first blackberry ever that night, so it was a special night.
I also took a picture of the blackberries on my, um, Blackberry. But it's not worth posting. I just thought that was fun to say.
Yum! I second the cobbler! I was out at my local hiking trail and started picking and gobbling trail side blackberries, when I noticed a sign indicating no pedestrian disturbance since the soil contains dredged waste water contaminants. Gulp and GULP!
i want to know how to do that pic. co cool. oh, and YUMMM blackberry cobbler.
