I was looking forward to this myself as well. At 5:15pm, clear skies and a totally awesome view of the grouping. Venus is so bright it looks like a freaking 747 approaching our house to land!
Cool. We saw the pre-event last night on the drive home just as we were crossing the grapevine and coming up out of the valley fog. Rolling hills and scrub oaks in the twilight made for a timeless view.
Checked the scene tonight about 6pm and watched the ocean fog billow over us and swallow it whole.
Through my binoculars, the craters of the moon were as defined as I've ever seen. Couldn't seem to pick up Jupiters moons, though; maybe just too much shivering.

Yeah, we've got clear and cold, probably upper 30's and the triangle is perfectly beautiful.

Time for some hot tea!
