That takes me back to a time of innocence. Going bare-foot! It was nice to be able to appreciate the cool grass beneath our feet, but being oh so careful not to step on busy little bees. Sweet memories.
The first day, even the grass made us spider step like we were crossing a bed of hot coals. By summers end, tender little feet had transformed in to invisible hiking boots that could hop from a bicycle on to the gravel driveway to race across the lawn & up an elm tree without wincing.

suddenly I'm reminded of thistle, thorns, bits of broken glass, nails in boards, coffee cans and mason jars...ah, sweet memories!
